Nys Hardingham

Chief Executive Officer
Nys has been CEO of Salterns Trust since January 2021. From 2014 until 2021, she has enjoyed the privilege of being Headteacher of Admiral Lord Nelson School, following several senior leadership roles there after originally joining the school as Head of Mathematics in 1998. Nys believes passionately in the power of education to transform children’s life chances and has worked collaboratively to promote inclusive education in Portsmouth for many years, leading the Portsmouth Education Partnership’s Inclusion group. With an adult son just having left home to study at university, Nys now likes to spend her free time practising yoga, sea swimming and walking outdoors in the beautiful areas surrounding her home in Chichester

Claire Copeland

Education Director
Claire joined the trust in January 2017 as Headteacher of Trafalgar School. She began her career at Admiral Lord Nelson School as a Teacher of History and left to take up at Deputy Headteacher position in Surrey after 11 years of service. Claire is passionate about school improvement and has a proven track record of leading rapid and sustained improvements in schools in challenging contexts. She has extensive leadership experience in teaching and learning and curriculum development and more recently as an OFSTED inspector, to ensure every child has access to the very best education. Claire is leading work on relational practice across the city and puts meaningful inclusion at the heart of her leadership practice. As Education Director for the trust, she works with leaders across the two schools to develop the very best practice to secure outstanding educational experiences for all our students

Victoria Bruce

Chief Finance Officer
Vicky joined the trust in November 2023 as interim Chief Finance Officer and was then subsequently confirmed in post as the permanent CFO in February 2024 following a rigorous recruitment process. With nearly 30 years accounting experience and with the last 16 years in the Higher Education sector, Vicky brings a wealth of finance knowledge and experience to the Trust. With a particular focus on process improvement, Vicky champions efficiency and effectiveness within financial processes, developing ideas aimed at streamlining practices. With a personal interest in Counter Fraud and Anti-Money Laundering initiatives, her proactive approach towards risk mitigation and compliance reflects her commitment to maintaining and enhancing financial integrity and transparency. Outside of work Vicky enjoys riding her motorbikes and spending time with her family and numerous pets!

Robin Parr

Chief Operating Officer
Robin joined the Trust in 2022 as the Chief Operating Officer. With an extensive career in governance within local authorities and other public bodies his main responsibilities include overseeing the Governance and compliance aspects of the Trusts work, leading on key strategies such as estates and IT and serving as the Trust Data Protection Officer. Robin is a father of two, with one child still in education at ALNS. In his spare time he enjoys exploring the two National Parks that sit just outside Portsmouth as well as walking the local coastlines.

James Kirk

Trust Network Manager
James joined the Trust in November 2022 as the Trust Network Manager. He has over 20 years’ experience working in schools and businesses and is passionate about IT and delivering excellent ICT services. He has previously worked at Admiral Lord Nelson School for their IT department. His main responsibilities are strategic development of ICT capacity, and oversight of all aspects of implementing and developing the Trusts current and future IT services. James is a father of 2, who lives locally, and enjoys visiting the local area’s many historical sites. In his spare time he enjoys going to the cinema and spending time with his family.

Charlotte Budd

Trust Governance Professional
Charlotte joined the Trust in 2022. Her role is to provide advice and support to the board and governing bodies on legal and procedural issues as well as maintaining records and recording the minutes of meetings. She has over 25 years’ experience in project management in a variety of key roles at major local companies. Charlotte is a mother of twins, who both attended ALNS and have now gone on to study at Portsmouth University.

Zia Hawtin

People Director
Zia found her passion for HR and employment law whilst studying at Southampton University back in 2008 . She has over 29 years’ experience in senior manager positions in a range of sectors including large commercial organisations. Her role is to provide strategic people planning for the future of the Trust including digital, talent planning and employee development. Zia applies her skills and knowledge to strive for excellence in providing an outstanding service to the Trusts stakeholders. Outside of work Zia enjoys spending time with her daughters, and extended family. Zia joined the Trust in June 2024
